How to get rid of dry lips

I have always had dry lips. I remember being in junior high school carrying a jar of carmax in my pocket. I cringe now thinking of all the germs from scooping my finger in that jar constantly to soothe my lips. It seemed the more carmax I used, the more I needed and I later read that the menthol in the product actually dries the lips.
I then tried the regular chap sticks, such a waste of time and money.
I started using vaseline. Didn't seem to keep lasting moister. I did some research and found that vaseline does not moisturize, it only creates a barrier to hold moisture in, so if your lips are dry, this does nothing.
I hated how my lips looked, especially with lipstick! The dry flaky skin just doesn't look so hot with the matte lipstick or any for that matter.

So finally, I found the cure!!! My holly grail!

Aquaphor® Lip Repair .35 fl. oz. Carded Pack

This product is truly amazing! My lips became so dry that they started to crack and bleed at the corners. This product healed them over night!

Tips:
You want to remove all dry dead skin before application to ensure that the ointment absorbs. Wet a rag with warm water and gently scrub lips in a circular motion before applying ointment.

For the very  best results, use a brush to gently exfoliate lips before application, for instance a clean unused tooth brush.

I actually use the Mary Kay Skinvigorate cleansing brush on my lips as I do my skin routine. Makes it much easier to do all at once.

I believe you can get this brush at a lower price from a Mary Kay consultant. You can find a local consultant online.
This brush is a great buy! I will talk about it in a future blog. It's priced really well compared to comparable brushes such as the Clarasonic.

I hope you have found this information helpful and please comment for more tips :)
